30 Apr It’s possible to illuminate the street using the energy of plants
A Dutch company, Plant-e, is collecting electricity from the plants to later be used, for example, to charge cellphones and illuminate 300 streets in two cities in the Netherlands. The project, designated by “Starry Sky”, has as an underlying principle idea that it is possible to take advantage of the excessive sugar that is segregated to the soil by the plants, during its growth. This sugar is then separated in electron and protons. Electrodes are inserted in the soil which will then use the plants residue to collect electricity.
