30 Apr Being part of the reality using Omni
The video game industry is looking, at an increasingly accelerated rate, to develop new forms of immersion in games that are able to offer increasingly more realistic controls and experiences to the player. To achieve this, the company Virtuix has presented “Omni”, an omnidirectional platform that allows the player to run in different directions. The “Omni” – which is combined with an Oculus Rift system – has an inclined, concave octagon surface. When running on it, the player uses special low-friction shoes.Virtuix launched the Omni in September 2014 at a price of 499 dollars.
